The excitement for Charleston magazine’s second-annual Charleston Fashion Week builds as two television stars announce their attendance at the runway shows and after parties from March 25-28 under the tents in Marion Square.
On Friday, March 28, be sure to look for Jillian Lewis from this season of Bravo’s Project Runway. The designer finished third amongst the other 15 talented contestants. Born and raised on Long Island, Lewis attended Parsons School of Design, where she was featured as “Parsons Design Star” on MTV college network. After graduation, Lewis worked as a concept designer and illustrator at Rugby by Ralph Lauren and as a designer at Searle. She is currently working on her own label, which is inspired by military uniforms, ballet, and the idea of incorporating technology into clothing.
On Saturday, March 29, Finesse Mitchell of Saturday Night Live will be the celebrity emcee during the final runway shows. An Atlanta native, Mitchell joined his first comedy contest in 1995, winning first place, and he’s been making people laugh ever since. He’s appeared on NBC’s Late Friday, CBS’s The Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and regularly on BET’s Comic View, and frequently performs at comedy clubs around the nation.
Charleston magazine’s second-annual Charleston Fashion Week is a five-night celebration of the city’s flourishing retail and design communities, featuring runway shows from more than 30 local retailers, a bridal couture show, and the debut of six local designers. With close to 100 designers presented, glitzy after parties each night, and a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Charleston chapter of Dress for Success, this year’s Charleston Fashion Week is sure to be the premier event of the season.
CFW 2008 will be held March 25-29 under the tents in Marion Square in downtown Charleston. Visit www.charlestonfashionweek.com for more information regarding the designers, schedule of events, sponsors, tickets, and more.
